Rambling Rose

Hello everyone, I hope you are ready to get out and enjoy yourself this weekend after last week’s storm put a damper on things.

Recently, I met a young lady named Pam Butler, who in 2009 became the first black Commodore of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Clubs Association in the organization’s 54 year history. I was truly impressed. The organization aggressively pursues legislative activities at the local, state, and occasionally, at the federal level, focusing on issues impacting upon the boating community throughout Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the District of Columbia. In 2010 Butler received special awards of outstanding services from the Neptune Yacht Club. The Neptune Yacht Club, I understand is the oldest African American Yacht Club in the United States. They host several activities that are great fun during the year. I recently attended a dynamite “Fish Fry Picnic” they had, and it was truly an out-of-site-event at Sandy Point State Park.

The Neptune Yacht Club, Inc. of Baltimore, Maryland will host their 58th anniversary with the Commodore’s Ball on Saturday, November 10th starting at 8 p.m. at Martin’s West, 6817 Dogwood Road.
