Maryland MVA introduces new online services
5/8/2014, 6 a.m.
Milt Chaffee, Administrator of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), announced that the agency is expanding online services available to customers. The expanded online services are part of MVA’s innovative strategy to use technology to further enhance customer service.
“We are making it even easier for Marylanders to complete their transactions from the comfort of their home, office, smart phone, or library,” Administrator Chaffee said. “By increasing the number of transactions we can offer online, your visit to an MVA branch office can be eliminated. When people think of the MVA, we want them to think of our online presence first.”
To access online services simply visit the MVA website at www.mva.maryland.gov and click online services on the banner.
The new online services include:
DRIVER LICENSE RENWAL
Maryland drivers, under 40, who are eligible to renew their non-commercial driver’s licenses without visiting an MVA branch office, will need to renew online. They can also renew by mail or at an MVA kiosk, located at the branch offices. The driver’s license will be mailed to the address on record at the MVA.
IDENTIFICATION CARD RENEWAL
All eligible identification card renewals must be completed online or by kiosk. We encourage customers to renew identification cards using the new online renewal option. The ID card will be mailed to the address on record.
DUPLICATE DRIVERS LICENSE REQUEST
Customers who request a duplicate driver’s license or ID card must complete the transaction online or by MVA kiosk. We encourage these customers to order a duplicate using the new online option. The duplicate Driver’s License or ID card will be mailed to the address on record.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR LICENSE CORRECTION
Customers requesting a change of address card or a corrected Driver’s License or ID card must complete the transaction online or by MVA kiosk. We encourage these customers to order a change of address card or a new corrected license or ID using the new online option.
If a new, corrected license or ID card is requested, rather than a change of address card an additional fee will apply. Otherwise, the MVA will send you an attachment card, at no extra cost, which should be stored with the license or ID card. The new license, ID card or attachment card will be mailed.
Over the past decade, the MVA has become a national leader in electronic, web based services. The online services allow MVA to provide easy, fast and secure service to more people in more places.
In addition to the services listed above customers are also able to:
