NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State freshman Boris Lunin swept MEAC Men’s Tennis accolades on Monday morning, earning both Players of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors.
The recognition comes after Lunin’s impressive victory at Longwood on Tuesday, Mar. 7. The Chesapeake, Va. native got Norfolk State on the scoreboard with a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) victory against Gary Huang at the Lancer Tennis Courts. The win came at the No. 5 singles position.
The awards mark the first MEAC accolades of Lunin’s young career. Just about a month into the season, he has already racked up three singles victories this season, each at a different position in the lineup.
Lunin and Norfolk State return to the court on Thursday, Mar. 16, opening the 2023 MEAC Tennis Roundup against Howard in Cary, N.C. The Spartans will play three matches during the three-day event, facing Coppin State on Friday before closing out the weekend on Saturday against Morgan State.
