
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Director of Athletics, Dr. Michael McFarland, was named first vice president of the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) following last week’s meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana. McFarland has served on the D2 ADA board since the fall of 2019 and began his first term in the presidential rotation last fall. He was named the third vice president last fall and moved directly into the first vice president role this spring. McFarland is set to serve as the organization’s president during the 2024-25 academic year and as the past president the following year. Along with his role on the board, McFarland is in his fifth year with the NCAA and D2 ADA Women and Minorities Mentoring program. Not only does McFarland serve as a mentor in the program, but he is also the D2 ADA’s liaison to the NCAA.McFarland is in his 13th year as the director of athletics at Bloomsburg after assuming the role in August 2011. The Chair of the Department of Athletics Faculty, McFarland, was promoted to Full Professor at the start of the 2022 Fall semester and granted tenure in the fall of 2016. McFarland came to Bloomsburg after six years as Bucknell University’s associate athletic director for facilities and event operations.
