BOWIE, Md. – On Wednesday, Apr. 13, the Bowie State softball team will play host to Shippensburg in a non-conference doubleheader at the BSU Softball Field beginning at 1 p.m.

Bowie State (14-16-1) will look to get back into the win column after suffering a pair of setbacks at Virginia State Sunday (4/10) on the road. The Bulldogs fell by the scores of 8-3 and 8-0, dipping to a third-place tie within the Northern Division with Elizabeth City State (4-2). Both Virginia State (6-2) and Virginia Union (5-2) are ahead at one and two, respectively.

Freshman Alyssa Cloutier (Derwood, MD) owns a batting clip of .436 to lead the Bulldogs offensively. She has leads the team in runs scored (38) while combining for 24 hits, six RBI and a pair of doubles on a .509 slugging average. Graduate senior Evelyn Buehlman (Ellicott City, MD) has pitched the most for the Bulldogs this season with a 7-7 overall record and an 8.23 ERA. She has struck out 62 batters in 74.1 innings pitched.

Shippensburg (18-12) is 9-2 on the road this season. The Raiders are coming off a split with Bloomsburg PSAC action, claiming a 4-1 win in the opener but falling 10-2 in six innings to the Huskies. Hannah Marstellar is team’s hot batter, averaging .495 at the plate to go along with 47 hits, nine doubles and 13 home runs. In the circle, Alicia Ball is the number one pitcher for the Raiders with a 1.52 ERA and an 8-3 record.

Wednesday’s contests will mark the third and fourth meeting between Bowie State and Shippensburg. The Bulldogs fell twice to the Raiders in 2016 (1-6) and 2009 (0-2).
