STATEN ISLAND, NY – Bowie State women’s track and field teams opened the indoor season with a competitive showing at the Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday. The Bulldogs posted four events in the top-15.
Notable Highlights
· Catherine Enwereji (Sicklerville, NJ) placed ninth in the 1000m race with a time of 3:30.88.
· Heaven Jenkins (Capitol Heights, MD) finished 12th in the 1000m race (3:58.07).
· Destiny Lewis (Huntingtown, MD) finished 16th in the one mile run (6:01.23).
· Shakila Campbell (Windsor, CT) earned a mark of 10.38m in the high jump for 13th overall.
· Sophomore Zahra Graham (Mansfield, OH) placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.40m. She also tabbed 24th in the long jump (4.61m)
· Jamesia Poindexter placed 22nd in the shot put with a throw of 9.66m.

What’s Next
The Bowie State indoor track and field programs hope to take a successful opener and build on it over the holiday break before returning to Ocean Breeze on Jan. 6.
