BOWIE, Md. – Freshman Alyssa Cloutier of the Bowie State Bulldogs softball team was named this week’s Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Food Lion Rookie of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

The Derwood, Md., native earned her first weekly honor after leading the Bulldogs to a sweep (9-1, 10-3) of Lincoln (PA) Sunday in their division opener. Cloutier went six-of-eight from the plate, including two doubles, over two games to finish with a .750 batting average and on-base percentage (OBP) as well as a 1.000 slugging percentage. Additionally, she scored six runs and drove in another two runs while also stealing four bases to help the Bulldogs to a pair of wins.
Cloutier currently leads the CIAA in runs scored (38) and stolen bases (27) while ranking second with a .576 on-base percentage.
