BOWIE, Md. – On Thursday, June 23, 2022, thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world will unite for the 13th consecutive year to make noise that Swimming Lessons Save Lives™. A global event called “The World’s Largest Swim Lesson ™ (WLSL)”, which will take place over the course of 24 hours at hundreds of aquatic centers, swim schools, and waterparks and Bowie State University will be serving as an official host location facility for the WLSL 2022 event.

Parents are invited to learn more about this phenomenal event by visiting WLSL.org and contacting the aquatics coordinator for more information. About: The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson was created to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent childhood drowning. Since its inception, more than 320,000 children and adults have participated in WLSL Lessons generating more than two billion media impressions about the importance of learning to swim.
Lessons will be offered at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 noon, 1 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. To reserve or book a lesson, please click HERE.
Important Registration Information:
· Each class is 45 minutes long
· Swimming lessons are for both children and adult beginners
· The shallow end of our pool is 4 feet deep, small children may not be able to stand
· Children who cannot stand in 4 feet of water must have an adult in the water with them
The Bowie State Aquatic Center is located inside the Leonidas S. James Physical Education Complex. Parking will be available in Lot H.
