Dover, Del. (July 1, 2022) — Delaware State’s Daria Julia (jr.) has captured a national women’s tennis championship in her home country of Romania this summer.

Julia, a native of Oradea, took first place in the event organized by the Romanian Federation of Tennis, winning each of her four matches against some of the country’s top players.
“Daria was defeated in the final of the same tournament last year, so it’s exciting to see the development in her overall game,” said Delaware State head women’s tennis coach Pavel Zenchenko. “We’re expecting big things from her this upcoming season.
Julia posted a 5-6 overall singles record (2-4 in MEAC) at the #2 spot, and was 8-3 in doubles (4-2 MEAC) as a member of the #1 team during the Hornets’ 2021-22 season.
