Tigers Win Pair In Men's Volleyball Season Opener

CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Benedict College men’s volleyball team opened the 2023 season with a pair of wins on Saturday.

The Tigers defeated Milligan 3-1 in their first match, then followed with a 3-0 sweep over host Truett-McConnell.

Benedict cruised in the first two sets over Milligan, winning 25-11 and 25-10. Milligan came back to win the third set 25-23 before the Tigers closed out the match with a 25-16 victory in the fourth set.

Ras Jesse Delancy had 19 kills to lead the Tigers. Jomari Jacobs had seven kills and hit .385. Freshman Kendersley Marcellin had 25 assists in his collegiate debut. Terran Walkin and Clint Forbes had seven digs each to lead the defense. Benedict served 21 aces, led by seven from Zion Beckford.

In the second match of the day, Delancy recorded 22 kills and hit .636 as the Tigers cruised to a 25-15, 25-14, 25-22 victory. Marcellin had 26 assists and Forbes had 22 digs.

The Tigers will host Truett-McConnell in their home opener on Feb. 7.
