Lady Tigers Blank Allen In Doubleheader

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College softball team held Allen University to just three hits in two games to sweep a SIAC softball doubleheader on Sunday at Martin Luther King Park.

Benedict scored seven runs in the third inning an route to taking the first game 14-0 in five innings. The Lady Tigers scored five runs in the second inning to take a 9-0 victory in five innings in the second game.
Benedict improves to 11-14 overall and 4-5 in the SIAC. Allen falls to 1-25 overall and 1-11 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers scored seven runs on just one hit in the third inning of the first game, which saw seven walks, one error and three wild pitches. Tanijah Washington went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Chesney Miller drove in three runs. Savannah Marshall picked up the win, allowing two hits.
In the second game, Olivia Townsend held Allen to just one hit and struck out five. Benedict scored five runs in the second inning on one hit, a single by T’yannah Lake that drove in two runs. Ericka Young had an RBI double in the third inning.
Benedict and Allen wrap up their conference series on Monday at 3 p.m. at King Park.
