VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Mercyline Kimaiyo and Kara Grant highlighted the Norfolk State women’s track and field team’s outing at the VCU Indoor Invitational with first and second-place finishes, respectively, in the 3000 meters.

Kimaiyo won the race with a time of 10:32.14, while Grant followed closely behind with a personal best of 10:39.38.

Leslie Young excelled in both of her events on Sunday, notching a second and third-place finish. A 57-foot, seven-inch toss secured runner-up in the weighted throw, before she came just one-quarter of an inch short of a personal best in the shot put (44-0.5).

Dnyshe Brightful and Destiny Hooks shared second-place honors in the pole vault, both clearing heights of nine feet, 5.25 inches. Indya Richards also notched a runner-up recognition in the long jump, registering an 18-foot, five-inch leap.
