Twelve Baltimore-based designers were selected to participate in Project Artscape Fashion Weekend, which will take place on Friday-Sunday, August 2-4, 2024 at “The Garage, 6 E. Lafayette Avenue. The weekend kicks off Friday evening from 5-9 p.m. with an opening runway show and industry panel discussion featuring Baltimore’s own Earle Bannister. The selected 2024 Project Artscape designers are: Earle Bannister; Nicoile Mean; Van Mac-Henry; Dr. Marilyn Walker; Abisola Oladeinde; Eryn Boggs; Bandi Lewis; Sehar Peerzada; Natalie Karyl; Kenn Hall; Evette Monique; and Iliana Quander. Sounds like fun, if you are interested in fashion. This is new and different for the BOPA, and I hope you support it and have fun.

Please don’t forget to attend the screening of the documentary, “LEGENDS” OF Baltimore created by Leonard Scovens of Black Child Studios at the GLA Sound Stage in Rosedale, Maryland. The documentary is about the bands, groups, and singers from Baltimore in the late 1960s and early 1970s who have gone on to perform with some of the greatest acts in music. Contemporary Arts, Inc. is celebrating 27 years of service to the community and will host a closing performance reception. It is open to the public at the McManus Theater, Loyola University Maryland, on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. Contemporary Arts Inc. and its partners, Loyola University Maryland and 901 Arts, are presenting this event. The National Black Theatre Festival is happening in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from July 30 through August 4, 2024. Our own Peaches Camphor is sponsoring a bus trip. The trip package includes five nights of accommodation, five breakfasts, baggage handling, motor coach transportation, and refreshments on the bus. “My goodness, Peaches! This does sound like a dynamite trip; I wish I could go.”
