Baltimore will once again be filled with the unmistakable sound of tradition and mastery when the Morehouse College Glee Club takes the stage on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Mount Hebron Baptist Church. The highly anticipated concert promises an afternoon of excellence in song, uniting powerful choral music, rich history, and community fellowship in support of scholarships for Baltimore-area students attending Morehouse College.

Founded more than a century ago, the Morehouse College Glee Club & Quartet is America’s oldest continuously performing all-male collegiate choral organization under professional directorship. Under the leadership of Director David Morrow, only the third director in the ensemble’s more than 100-year history, the Glee Club has earned an international reputation for its musical precision, disciplined stage presence, and wide-ranging repertoire that blends classical works, African American spirituals, gospel, and contemporary selections.

Guided by the motto “Brothers in song, sing on!”, the Glee Club has electrified audiences around the world for more than 110 years. Its global reach spans the United States, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean, with tours and performances in Senegal, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, South Africa, Russia, Poland, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Canada, and Puerto Rico, as well as every corner of the continental United States.

Throughout its storied history, the Glee Club has shared the stage with some of the most revered names in music and culture, including “The Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin, Grammy Award-winning opera soprano Jessye Norman, mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, and recording artists Take 6. The ensemble has also participated alongside Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, and Trisha Yearwood in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.

The Glee Club’s historic performances include singing the National Anthem with Natalie Cole at Super Bowl XXVIII, performing at the funeral of Martin Luther King Jr., and at the inauguration of Jimmy Carter. The ensemble has appeared at the White House, the Olympics, multiple Super Bowls, and on national television, including The Cosby Show, solidifying its place as one of the most respected collegiate choral groups in the world.

Recording artists in their own right, the Glee Club is featured on the soundtracks of School Daze and Miracle at St. Anna, both directed by Morehouse alumnus Spike Lee. Their iconic recording of “I’m Building Me a Home” was famously used for the opening credits of School Daze and remains a defining piece of the Morehouse musical legacy.

“The Glee Club is known for its focused stage presence, musical precision, wide-ranging repertoire, and distinguished alumni,” said Marvin Allen, President of the Baltimore Morehouse Alumni Association. “Their excellence reflects the discipline and leadership that define Morehouse Men across generations.”

The March 8 concert supports the scholarship and emergency financial assistance initiatives of the Baltimore Morehouse Alumni Foundation, helping Baltimore-area students remain enrolled, bridge tuition gaps, purchase essential academic materials, and focus fully on their leadership and academic development.
