Annapolis— On Thursday, January 13, 2022, Governor Larry Hogan awarded governor’s citations to Casey Holihan and John Noe of Ellicott City, Ron Hill of Schmidt Baking Company, and Chuck Paterakis of H&S Family of Bakeries for their selfless act of kindness by distributing loaves of bread to stranded drivers along a two-mile stretch of I-95.
Governor Hogan presented Hill and Paterakis with official governor’s citations during their visit. Due to a military deployment, Holihan and Noe were unable to attend and will be sent their governor’s citations.
During last week’s winter storm, Holihan and Noe were stranded on I-95 with hundreds of drivers for more than a day with no access to food or water. After spotting a Schmidt Baking Company delivery truck a few cars ahead, the Ellicott City couple called the company’s customer service hotline and spoke with one of the bakery’s owners, Paterakis, who instructed the couple to approach the delivery truck.
Paterakis instructed the driver, Hill, to distribute at least two loaves of bread to each car. Holihan, Noe, and Hill helped distribute nearly 600 loaves of bread to drivers stuck on the interstate.
