BALTIMORE — A new book aimed at empowering mothers to embrace both entrepreneurship and purpose is set to debut just ahead of Mother’s Day, as Baltimore-based therapist and author Leslie J. Sherrod prepares to launch Work It, Momma!: Five Biblical Principles for the Budding Mompreneur.
Sherrod, a licensed clinical social worker, speaker, and entrepreneur, will host an intimate, media-friendly book launch event on May 5, 2026, at her Nottingham studio. Designed as a small gathering of 20 to 30 guests, the event will feature live readings, conversation, and opportunities for one-on-one engagement with the author.
Rooted in both her clinical expertise and personal journey, Work It, Momma! offers a faith-based framework for mothers navigating the often complex balance between family life and building a business. The book introduces five core principles intended to help women rediscover their identity, clarify their purpose, and pursue entrepreneurship with intention and alignment.
Sherrod encourages mothers to reconnect with their passions and interests as a starting point for personal and professional growth. She emphasizes that purpose is often found in the things that naturally excite and inspire us—insights she expands on throughout the book with guided reflections and actionable prompts designed to help readers map out next steps.

The release comes at a time when many women are rethinking traditional career paths and exploring new ways to generate income while maintaining family priorities. Sherrod notes that her faith has been a central force in shaping both her life and her message, helping her navigate challenges and trust in timing and purpose.
“I want women to feel reignited,” Sherrod shares in her reflections, expressing hope that the book will serve as a source of encouragement, clarity, and confidence for those who may feel stuck or uncertain about their next chapter.
The May 5 launch event is intentionally timed to align with Mother’s Day, reinforcing the book’s focus on uplifting mothers across all stages of their journey—from those raising young children to empty nesters rediscovering their path.
A public book signing is also scheduled for June 10, 2026, offering a second opportunity for the community to connect with Sherrod and engage with her work.
