The NAACP Baltimore County Branch will host its 2026 Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, February 28, 2026, bringing together civic leaders, community advocates, and residents for an afternoon of inspiration, celebration, and action.

Held during Black History Month, this year’s theme, “The Fierce Urgency of Now,” reflects what organizers describe as a critical call to action for civil rights, equity, and community leadership in Baltimore County and beyond.

The annual Freedom Fund Banquet serves as the Branch’s signature fundraiser, supporting civil rights advocacy, youth initiatives, voter engagement, and community-based programs throughout the county.

A Program Centered on Leadership and Impact

The banquet will feature keynote speaker Darryl Green, a nationally recognized author, leadership coach, and professor at Morgan State University. Green is widely respected for his work in leadership development and community empowerment.

The event will be emceed by Dayvon Love, a Baltimore-based organizer and policy advocate known for his work advancing social justice initiatives.

Attendees will also experience performances from local creatives, including spoken word and performance artist Sunflower Mo (Melanie Monji) and vocalist Michele Horton. Music will be provided by community partner Ervin Bradley (DJ Nyce).

In addition to the entertainment, the NAACP Baltimore County Branch will recognize outstanding community leaders whose work reflects dedication to service, advocacy, and positive change across the region.

“The Freedom Fund Banquet is more than a celebration. It is a gathering of people committed to building a more just and equitable community,” said Roland N. Patterson, Jr., President of the NAACP Baltimore County Branch.

Supporting the Next Generation

Tickets and sponsorship tables remain available for the event. The Branch’s “Next Generation” sponsorship initiative allows supporters to help students attend the banquet and engage directly with community leaders, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to youth leadership development.
