Bowie State University Women’s Basketball Picked to Fourth in CIAA Preseason Poll, Myers Named Preseason All-CIAA

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced its preseason picks for the 2022-23 women’s basketball season, and the Bowie State University women’s basketball team was projected to finish fourth overall and third in the CIAA Northern Division standings as redshirt sophomore Katerra Myers was the lone Bulldog named to the All-CIAA Preseason Team.

Bowie State finished .500 (12-12 overall) and 10-6 in the CIAA last season under the leadership of Shadae Swan who will enter her eighth season at the helm of the Bulldogs program beginning 2022-23.

Myers, a native of Burtonsville, Md., earned All-CIAA Preseason recognition after an outstanding 2021-22 season where she averaged 9.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in roughly 27.3 minutes per game. The 5-foot-8 forward recorded three double-doubles and registered 13 games in double-figure scoring including a 32-point performance against Fayetteville State. Additionally, she was also the lone Bowie State Bulldog to make the All-CIAA Team and CIAA All-Tournament.

Lincoln (PA) was voted to repeat as conference champions with seven first-place votes while Elizabeth City State (3) and Johnson C. Smith were voted second and third, respectively.
