3/27/2022 | Men’s Track & FieldMOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Lincoln University track and field teams opened the 2022 outdoor season, competing in the Fifth Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge, hosted by the University of Mount Olive.
Freshman Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) brought home the lone event victory, while the team posted seven other top 10 finishes. Johns won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:23.73.
Junior Mikayla Clements (/) brought home an eighth-place finish in the high jump with a distance of 1.35 meters, while sophomore Nakacee McNab (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) placed ninth in the 400-meter run (1:01.26). Freshman Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) was fourth in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles (15.42 seconds) but didn’t finish the event in the finals.
On the men’s side, the Lions posted five top-five finishes with junior Dominic George (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) bringing home this highest finish, placing second in the 100-meter dash (11:07 seconds), and freshman Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.53 seconds). The duo combined with senior Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) and freshman Jude Butumbi (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) to finish third in the 4×100 meter relay (43.55 seconds).
Not to be left out of the scoring, the pair of field event athletes got into the action. Butler was fifth in the high jump (1.85 meters), while freshman Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) was fourth in the javelin (41.54 meters).
Lincoln returns to action Saturday at the Millersville Metrics.
