FLip That Stock, the Maryland-based financial education company dedicated to increasing Black participation in the stock market, was recently featured in Paths Across Prince George’s County, a new PBS documentary that aired on Wednesday, November 12 at 9:30 PM EST on MPT2.

Produced by Roadtrip Nation, the documentary highlighted leaders, creatives, and entrepreneurs shaping the future of Prince George’s County. The official trailer, which offered a preview of the film, is available at https://roadtripnation.com/roadtrip/prince-georges-county-documentary/683e1a9c1b1cb13f9d306619.

Fenwick and FLip That Stock appeared in the second half of the episode, giving audiences a meaningful look at the company’s mission, impact, and Fenwick’s personal journey. Viewers also saw familiar Baltimore-area faces: Baltimore Times Publisher Paris Brown appeared on screen, and several scenes were filmed against the backdrop of Creatively Black Baltimore, bringing local artistic and cultural energy into the story.

A Mission to Close the Wealth Gap

Since 2013, FLip That Stock has taught more than 42,000 people how to actively participate in the stock market, centering its work around increasing Black stock market participation as a pathway to closing the racial wealth gap.

That mission was further amplified in the documentary, which highlighted FLip That Stock’s partnership with Times Community Services. The collaboration features Project 100K, an initiative designed to help 100,000 residents shift from consumers to investors by redirecting spending power toward stock ownership. More about the partnership can be found at https://timescommunityservices.org/flip-that-stock/.

Fenwick’s popular “Shop for Stocks” program, which teaches people to invest with the same ease as online shopping, was also referenced as an example of how FLip That Stock makes investing accessible to beginners.

A Journey of Transformation

The documentary shared Fenwick’s unexpected road to becoming one of the nation’s most relatable stock market educators. A Hampton University graduate with a nursing/pre-med degree, Fenwick worked briefly as a registered nurse before transitioning to corporate roles in pharmaceutical and medical-equipment sales and consulting. Although he earned a six-figure salary, his entrepreneurial ventures—music production, martial arts instruction, coaching, and marketing—ultimately outpaced his corporate income.

Fenwick eventually left his $100,000-a-year position, chronicling the experience in the award-winning book How I Quit My $100,000-a-Year Job. He later created The Kick Your BOSS To The Curb Show and became a featured speaker at entrepreneurship conferences nationwide.

His shift into stock trading began when a stranger he purchased music equipment from introduced him to active investing. Fenwick invested in training, coaching, and study before developing his own teaching system. As demand grew among friends and community members, he founded FLip That Stock.

Today, Fenwick has been featured in national media, and his upcoming books—Why EVERY African American Should Participate in the Stock Market and 26 Things I Did To Quit My Job and Build a Million Dollar Company—are slated for release this year.

A Spotlight on Local Creativity

The documentary also celebrated the region’s creative and cultural ecosystem. Scenes featuring Paris Brown and Creatively Black Baltimore added local relevance and highlighted the interconnectedness of storytelling, arts, and economic empowerment in Maryland’s Black communities.

For FLip That Stock, the feature served as another milestone in its ongoing mission to help individuals build wealth by owning a piece of the economy—not just participating in it.
