BALTIMORE — War Memorial Plaza was filled with joy, music, and community spirit as thousands of toys were distributed to Baltimore families during the Holiday Grocery & Toy Giveaway hosted by Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and FutureThink Hub.
The large-scale holiday event brought together families from across the city for a day of celebration and critical support, offering far more than gifts. In addition to toys, attendees received groceries, clothing, hot meals, and access to workforce development and community resources—underscoring a holistic approach to meeting both immediate needs and long-term stability.

The event was joined by Aruna Miller, Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, who greeted families, assisted with distributions, and delivered remarks highlighting the importance of meeting families where they are during the holiday season. Her presence underscored the role of state leadership in supporting community-driven solutions to food insecurity and economic hardship.
Councilman Zac Blanchard was also in attendance, engaging with families, volunteers, and partner organizations throughout the day.
The festive energy of the event was amplified by live music from 92Q Jams, with radio personality Black energizing the crowd during some of the most anticipated moments of the day, including giveaways of bikes and scooters that drew cheers from children and families gathered throughout the plaza.

Several organizations played a key role in expanding the event’s impact. Jane Adams Resource Corporation was onsite providing workforce development information and employment resources for adults seeking job training and career pathways. DTLR supplied sneakers for youth, ensuring children headed into the new year with essential footwear alongside their holiday gifts.
Families also received clothing from a local boutique, while volunteers served free soup and hot chocolate, offering warmth and comfort throughout the day. The combination of essential resources and festive touches transformed War Memorial Plaza into a welcoming holiday destination.
The event was powered by volunteers from across Baltimore, including teams from HTP Homes, the Boys’ Latin School Black Student Union, and numerous other community groups who worked together to ensure families were served with dignity and care.
By combining toys, food, workforce resources, music, and volunteer power, the Holiday Grocery & Toy Giveaway demonstrated the strength of Baltimore’s community ecosystem—and the impact that collaboration can have during the moments that matter most.
