Baltimore County, MD — NAACP Baltimore County is proud to announce that Dayvon Love, Baltimore-based political organizer and Director of Public Policy for Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle (LBS), will serve as Master of Ceremonies for its 2026 Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The Freedom Fund Banquet is the Branch’s signature annual fundraiser and convening, bringing together community leaders, advocates, and residents committed to advancing racial, social, and economic justice. This year’s theme, The Fierce Urgency of Now, reflects both the urgency of this moment and the responsibility to act. Love’s participation will be especially meaningful for the Next Generation students attending the banquet through the Branch’s new student sponsorship initiative.

Love is widely respected for his leadership at Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, a Baltimore-based grassroots think tank advancing the public policy interests of Black people. LBS has led legislative and advocacy efforts on criminal justice reform, liberatory approaches to youth development, and reparations.

Love added a notable voice in Baltimore County’s recent redistricting process. Through LBS’s Action Alert last fall and his September 13, 2025 letter to the editor in the Baltimore Banner, he helped elevate the racial justice implications of the county’s map-drawing process. While the final outcome fell short of what many Fair Maps advocates sought, sustained public pressure led to meaningful changes to the Council’s original proposal, including the addition of two majority-minority districts. That progress would not have been possible without the advocacy of LBS and other community partners.

Love is the author of Worse Than Trump: The American Plantation and When Baltimore Awakes. A proud Baltimore native, he first discovered policy debate at Forest Park High School, later earning a scholarship to Towson University, where he and Deven Cooper became the first all-Black team to win the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) National Championship.

“Dayvon Love embodies the fierce urgency of now,” said Roland N. Patterson, Jr., President of NAACP Baltimore County.
