Sabrina Tapp-Harper Officially Files for Baltimore City Sheriff Campaign

BALTIMORE, MD — Sabrina Tapp-Harper today officially filed her candidacy for Baltimore City Sheriff, with a platform focused on improved public safety through experienced leadership, accountability, and professional service to Baltimore residents.

Tapp-Harper’s career in law enforcement spans nearly four decades. As a member of the Baltimore Police Department, she became the first Black commander of the Northern District and the first woman to command the Special Investigations Division of the BPD. She retired as a Major from the Police Department. She also served with the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office as an Assistant Sheriff, making history as the highest-ranking woman in the history of the office. Her advocacy efforts for the Violence Against Women Act earned her an invitation to the White House by President Barack Obama in 2012.

“Baltimore deserves a Sheriff’s Office that is professional, responsive, and accountable,” said Tapp-Harper. “I’m running to strengthen public trust, foster positive relationships with other agencies, and ensure the office delivers consistent, respectful service—every day.”
