Day 25 | Black Futures Cypher – The Power of One

For Maya Elizabeth, music is medicine. Her artistry is anchored in what she calls “healing.truth.+love.” Through soulful melodies and intentional lyricism, Maya creates inspirational-soul music that affirms identity, challenges toxic thinking, and replaces doubt with grounded truth.

Her work is not surface motivation—it is restorative. Whether addressing anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion, Maya crafts songs that meet listeners where they are and guide them toward wholeness.

The Power of One

For Maya Elizabeth, The Power of One is both individual brilliance and collective strength. It is the understanding that each person carries unique gifts—abilities, beauty, perspective—and that when those gifts are shared openly, something larger is formed.

She describes it as single and combined power at once: one person’s abilities, brilliance, and talents joining with others to create something whole. In her framing, we each play a part—and we are stronger together.

Healing as Cultural Work

Maya’s art contributes to shaping Black futures by centering emotional wellness. Her music uproots harmful narratives and replaces them with affirmations grounded in truth. She does not ignore struggle; she addresses it directly—then offers tools for transformation.

Her contribution to the Black Futures Cypher was inspired by the title, the hook, and the prompt itself. She envisioned people gathering around a feast—each bringing something unique to the table, sharing in the fruits of their labor, and leaving nourished together.

The metaphor is intentional. Black futures, in her view, are built when people show up fully and contribute from a place of security, gratitude, and openness.

Mentorship and Baltimore Roots

Maya credits mentors such as Rob Levine III—her first producer and an early believer in her voice—for influencing her journey. She also acknowledges Maurette Brown Clark and Von Vargas for supporting her growth as a professional artist.

Baltimore served as the connective thread, introducing her to collaborators and creative community that sharpened her craft and reinforced her purpose.

One Action Toward Collective Change

Her call to action begins internally: do the work. Seek therapy. Know yourself. Understand how you show up in the world. From that place of self-awareness, build healthy community and contribute your unique gifts confidently.
