Maryland Art Place (MAP) is once again shining a spotlight on Baltimore’s vibrant arts community with its Annual UNDER $2,500 Affordable Art Sale, returning Friday, November 21, 2025. The one-night benefit offers collectors and art lovers a unique opportunity to acquire original works from some of the region’s most sought-after talents—at prices designed to welcome both seasoned buyers and first-time collectors.

What began in 2013 as “Under $500,” an initiative launched by a former MAP Board Trustee and the Founder & Creative Director of Mission Agency, has now evolved into a much-anticipated event featuring works priced under $2,500. The goal remains the same: encourage art purchasing during the holiday season as a meaningful alternative to commercial gift-giving. Over the years, the sale has expanded in size, scope, and impact, now offering both a physical show and a virtual marketplace to broaden access and support local artists.

This year’s event takes place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at MAP’s downtown gallery (218 West Saratoga Street) in the heart of the Bromo Arts District. Guests will enjoy an evening surrounded by original works, curated small bites, and entertainment from DJ Aran Keating of Ridiculous Entertainment.
Tickets are $40 pre-sale and $45 at the door (unless sold out).

A standout roster of participating artists reflects the depth and diversity of Baltimore’s creative landscape. Featured names include Rosa Leff, Schroeder Cherry, Albert Schweitzer, Julianna Dail, Lauren Castellana, Phaan Howng, Heather Kirtland, Grace Doyle, and Emma Childs, among many others. Several artists will debut new or event-exclusive works, adding to the excitement for collectors eager for fresh discoveries.

Following the in-person sale, MAP will launch a virtual exhibition and online art sale running Saturday, Nov. 22 through Black Friday, Nov. 28 (midnight). The online platform extends opportunities for collectors beyond Baltimore, ensuring that both Maryland-based and nationwide audiences can engage with and purchase works from local artists.

The UNDER $2,500 Art Sale serves as a crucial fundraiser for Maryland Art Place, directly supporting its mission and the working artists it serves. Proceeds help sustain MAP’s year-round programming, including fiscal sponsorship services, accessible studio spaces, internships, and free public exhibitions. These efforts make it possible for artists at all stages of their careers—from emerging creatives to nationally recognized names—to gain visibility, resources, and meaningful support.

The event is made possible through generous support from Twopoint Studio, Elemental Metalworks, Crook Horner Lofts, Adam & Fredye Gross, Theodore W. Atkinson, Liz & Ned Courtemanche, John Meyerhoff and Lenel Srochi-Meyerhoff, Amanda Moore & Frank Douglas, UNION Craft Brewing, and Dooby’s, with additional partners to be announced.

For Baltimore’s art community, MAP’s UNDER $2,500 sale is more than a marketplace—it’s a celebration of creativity, accessibility, and community impact. By placing original artwork within reach and returning income directly to local artists, the event strengthens the region’s cultural ecosystem and reinforces MAP’s commitment to inspiring, cultivating, and uplifting creatives across Maryland.
