As Baltimore continues to strengthen its pipeline of future leaders, iMentor Baltimore is placing mentorship front and center with its National Mentoring Month Speaker Summit, Mentorship Moves the City. The multi-day virtual event brings together some of Maryland’s most influential voices to explore how mentorship shapes industries, expands opportunity, and prepares young people for long-term success.

Hosted in recognition of National Mentoring Month, the summit highlights the powerful role mentoring plays in cultivating a skilled, diverse, and resilient workforce. Through candid conversations and lived experiences, speakers will share how guidance, access, and intentional relationships can change the trajectory of a young person’s life—and by extension, the future of Baltimore.

The summit opens Monday, January 26 at 5 p.m. ET with remarks from Lynn Quale, setting the tone for a week of discussion focused on leadership, equity, and workforce development. On Tuesday, January 27 at 10 a.m. ET, Noell West, Assistant Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services for Baltimore City, will examine mentorship through the lens of public service and community well-being.

The conversation continues Wednesday, January 28 at 3 p.m. ET with Chrissy Thornton, President and CEO of Associated Black Charities, who will discuss how mentorship intersects with philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, and generational impact. The summit concludes Thursday, January 29 at 12 p.m. ET with Dr. Destiny-Simone Ramjohn, Chair at Maryland Community Health Resources Commission, offering insight into mentorship’s role in healthcare leadership and corporate responsibility.

At the heart of the summit is iMentor Baltimore’s mission-driven work pairing 11th- and 12th-grade students in partner schools with caring adult mentors. Using technology to support consistent, meaningful connections, the organization helps students navigate the critical transition from high school to college and beyond—ensuring they are not only enrolled, but supported through completion and career entry.

Mentorship Moves the City also marks the launch of iMentor Baltimore’s new monthly speaker series, which will continue to spotlight thought leaders across sectors, offering young people—and the broader community—practical insight on mentorship, career planning, and leadership development.

Registration is now open. Community members, educators, professionals, and prospective mentors are encouraged to attend.
