PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — For the second week in a row, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team had the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday (April 4). The Hawks went 4-1 last week as they split a doubleheader with Hampton on March 30 and swept South Carolina State over the weekend. Garcia went 10-16 at the plate for a .625 batting average during those games. She had a home run, four doubles, seven runs, and three stolen bases.

Garcia is currently the conference’s leader in RBI and doubles and trails only Kresley in batting average. She is also on an eight-game hitting streak as the team has won eight of their first nine MEAC contests.

Maryland Eastern Shore will now face Cornell tomorrow (April 5) for a midweek doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. They will continue their conference schedule this weekend (April 9-10) with a series against Coppin State.
