Bulldogs Open Season with Win over Elizabeth City State

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State women’s tennis team (1-0) grabbed its first win of the 2023 season with a 4-0 decision over the visiting Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State (0-1) Saturday afternoon at the BSU Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs started off the match with a 1-0 lead after sweeping doubles led by 6-0 victories at the No. 1 doubles position that featured Afruica Gentle and Kayla Lowery and the No. 3 doubles that included Denaij Rose and Jatiya Stewart.

BSU picked up three-straight wins in singles competition. Court one saw Gentle down her opponent at the No. 1 spot (6-0, 6-0), followed by Rose’s 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 slot. Stewart came out on top at the No. 6 position, earning a 6-1, 6-0 win.

UP NEXT
Following Saturday’s competition, the Bulldogs will travel to Virginia State on Saturday, Mar. 11 for a conference matchup with the Trojans at 11 a.m.
